Restoration Challenge #25

How I Did It

Here's what I did:

· Opened picture and made copy.

· Lightened copy.

· Changed to Greyscale.

Tried every button on PaintShopPro 7 to try to improve picture and nothing I could do seemed to help. If I reduced the garbage on the picture, the faces became fuzzy. Had to agree with BigAl in that picture needed washing (or something). Maybe a cycle through the washing machine would help it.

Decided I couldn't get it any clearer so I pulled out my sewing machine (clone tool) and went to designing their clothes. I decide the bride should have a wrap dress and the other lady should have a suit with a gathered skirt. Then used the clone tool as my makeup kit and applied a bit of makeup to the worse blemishes on their faces, hands and legs. Used it again as shoe polish to clean up their shoes. Pulled out the retouch tool and used smudge, lighten, and darken to get clothing and makeup more to my liking.

Took a good look at the background and other than in a few spots decided that it looked like lichen growing on it and that it gave it character so it should stay. (I wasn't in the mood to clean concrete blocks at this point, altho I did try to do away with the cockroach, bug, or whatever critter was smeared on the wall.)
