Manipulation Challenge #12

What I Did

This one scared me off at first.... I had no idea of how to proceed. Then while hunting tutorials in retouching and manipulating photos in PSP7, I ran across a tutorial at http://www.justkiss.com/psp/psp.htm that addressed this issue and had to give it a try. I had to experiment some so I didn't follow his instructions to the letter but here's how I did it.

• Copied photo onto a new layer over transparent background.
• Lightened background to get more definition between hair and background.
• Applied Colors> Posterise. Wasn't sure what author meant about bits per channel but I set level to 2.
• Applied Effects, Edge, Trace Contour
• Used the Color Replacer tool to change all colors except yellow to black. I changed the yellow to white.
• There didn't seem to be enough definition on the scoop so I drew in some black lines to define front of scoop.
• Peas in scoop were mostly white blob so I cloned in some of the darker ones from below.

This turned out to be really fun.
